Blogger is one of the best platforms for those who are new to blogging. But as time goes by you will need to make changes to your blog. And as it grows you will need more add-ons, plugins and most of all flexibility which Blogger does not provide. Hence, you will have to migrate to some other platform. When it comes to migrating from Blogger the best option is WordPress. It’s a matter of few clicks and you will not lose traffic or comments. So let’s walk through the steps that you will need to take while you migrate from Blogger to WordPress:
Backup– Though the migration process is easy and safe there is always a chance that things might go wrong. That’s why it is advised to backup your posts, comments and everything that matters to you; so that you do not lose any data.
Import the data- Go to your WordPress Admin dashboard and then to Tools>Import. Once you click import you will find several options. In this case you will have to choose Blogger. Once you choose Blogger you will be redirected to the next page “Import Blogger”. Now, press the authorize button. Once you do that you will be asked to allow WordPress to access the Google account with which you have created the blog. Once you grant access, it will show all the blogs that are under the same account. All you have to do is select the one you want to transfer and click import.

Now you can switch to the main site and see the posts that have been imported from Blogger to wordpress. This is the last step taken to migrate from Blogger to WordPress but there is more to it.you need to get back your RSS subscribers and redirect the traffic to the new blog. Here’s what you have to do:
Redirecting your content– You will want your visitors to land in your WordPress site. And for that you need to go to your Blogger dashboard, choose the template option and choose “revert to classic templates”. Now you will see the template code in ShowNotes but before using the code you will have to replace labnol.org with your actual domain name. Now copy the code and paste it in the Blogger template editor and save it.
Now go to your WordPress admin dashboard and choose the theme editor. All themes have a functions.php file. If you do not have that file then you can create it from cPanel. Go to the functions.php file and add a snippet of code present in ShowNotes. Now copy the code and paste it at the end of functions.php file and then save the changes.
Transferring the RSS subscribers – For this you need to go to the Blogger dashboard>settings>others and under Site Feed choose “Post Feed Redirect URL”. Now type the web address of the new WordPress RSS feed and your subscribers will move to your new feed.
With this you will successfully migrate from Blogger to WordPress without losing any traffic or ranking.
